Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Neil, a software engineer and computer science student at Columbia University, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Since 2013, I have been developing apps for Apple operating systems. From school’s daily news apps to fitness trackers, I have published several apps on the App Store. Some of the apps are also open source on Github.
l am also very passionate about supervised machine learning and computer vision. In the spring of 2017, I gave a TEDx talk about A.I. at Deerfield Academy. You can find my talk here on YouTube.
I am privileged to the opportunities to pursue my interests. It’s my responsibility to use my knowledge in engineering to create something meaningful for others. I co-lead a free computer science education program to help and inspire young students in the Western MA area.
Alan Kay once said, “People who are really serious about software should make their own hardware”. I have made a quadcopter from scratch, built a microprocessor on a FPGA, and, for the past two years, have been working on a self-driving golf cart. You can learn more about the open-source autonomous vehicle on my Github page.
Thanks again for stopping by. Please leave a comment below if you have any questions. Or you can directly email me at yongyang.nie(at)gmail.com
